The similarities of drug and alcohol abuse which leads to addiction are that both are diseases of the brain. Drug and alcohol addiction share a common thread of progressive symptoms of craving, loss of control, physical and/or psychological dependence and drug tolerance. Drug abuse treatment is recommended for anyone experiencing any or all of these symptoms of addiction.
